Selangor MB announces deficit state budget for 2021

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (pic) has announced a deficit state budget of RM2.323bil for 2021, saying that RM1.220bil or 53% of the total amount will go towards administrative costs.

He added that the remaining 47% or RM1.103bil will be allocated to cover development expenses.

Amirudin said that the state's projection of its 2021 earnings were RM2.200bil with 46.98% or RM1.03bil coming from land premiums.

He added that RM545.84mil or 28.81% is expected to come from quit rent while the remaining 9.40% will come from a federal allocation of RM206.85mil.

"Taking into consideration the estimated state revenue is RM2.200bil and the projected expenses is RM2.323bil, the state's 2021 budget will have a deficit of RM123mil.

"The deficit is however much lower than the 2020 deficit projection of RM133mil," said Amirudin.
