Indonesian man killed in Penang house fire

GEORGE TOWN: An Indonesian man was killed while three others escaped with injuries during an early morning fire which broke out at a double-storey house in Lebuh Melaka here.

Penang Fire and Rescue Department (fire operation and safety) officer Nafis Ariff Abdullah said two double-storey houses were razed in the 6am incident yesterday.

“An unidentified Indonesian man died while two men, aged 33 and 39, and a 43-year-old woman suffered injuries.

“A 39-year-old man, however, managed to escape unhurt, ” he said, adding that all the victims were Indonesians.

Nafis said the victims were saved by firemen from the Jalan Perak and Lebuh Pantai stations.
