Bus lands on its side after skidding on wet road, 14 lightly injured

SIBU: Fourteen people were lucky to have sustained only light injuries when the bus they were on landed on its side near a roadside ditch on Thursday (Oct 29).

The victims included the 30-year-old driver of the bus and his assistant.

All of the passengers were men.

State Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Department chief superintendent Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident happened at about 7.15am on Thursday, when the bus skidded and the driver lost control of the vehicle on a road made slippery by incessant rain.

"The bus overturned and landed on one side near the roadside ditch in Jalan Paradom," he said.

The bus left the Sibu Bus terminal earlier and was making its way to Kuching.

Those who were injured and required treatment were taken to Sibu Hospital.
