PAS: Frontliners should decide on emergency enforcement, not legal experts and politicians

KUALA LUMPUR: The decision on whether or not to enforce a state of emergency to curb Covid-19 should be referred to health and safety experts, instead of politicians and Constitutional experts, says PAS president Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Hadi Awang.

“This is very important so that decisions are made wisely, rather than going through sources or views from a legal, political or economical aspect.

“The ongoing problem must be referred to the real experts. For example, fishermen issues should not refer to farmers. The same goes to space knowledge, it should not be referred to geologists.

“Otherwise, the decision made would not be in tandem with reality,” said Abdul Hadi.

Abdul Hadi also pointed out that many frontliners, including health officers, police, as well as members of the armed forces, have become victims of Covid-19 while carrying out their duties.

"And the amount of new cases isn’t seeing a drop,” he added.

Abdul Hadi said attention should be placed on the true capacity of the police and armed forces in enforcing the conditional movement control order (MCO) to control the movement of Malaysians, as well as stopping illegal immigrants from entering the country.
