ISKANDAR PUTERI: The state government will provide an allocation to help frontliners and those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic through its Johor Budget 2021.
Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said the government would allocate a large amount to help the group during the tabling of the state Budget next month.
“Our focus is on those affected by the pandemic and also to the frontliners involved in the battle against Covid-19.
“I believe and am confident that the state government will mirror the Federal Government’s Budget. We are prepared to ensure that our budget assists Putrajaya’s effort in handling Covid-19, ” he added.
Hasni said this when met after handing out Unit Modal Insan Johor strategic initiatives and the launch of Johor TVET guidelines book at Kota Iskandar here on Wednesday (Oct 28).
He, however, added that even with the allocation, the state government must make sure that they must be in a healthy fiscal position as they must manage its budget on a yearly basis.
“As much as we want to spend more for the people, we still have to make sure our fiscal remains healthy and that must be the principal of our budget.
“The state government’s capacity is very limited and we must work within our means, ” he said.
Meanwhile, in another matter, Hasni said the state government targeted the first quarter of next year to open up its Johor Economic, Tourism and Cultural Office (Jetco) in Singapore.
