Two secondary school students among four nabbed for illegal racing in Penang

GEORGE TOWN: Four youths, including two secondary school students, were detained for being involved in illegal racing at the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR) here.

North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the four, aged 16 to 20, were nabbed during Ops Samseng Jalanan that was conducted on Sunday (Oct 25).

"They were riding their motorcycles recklessly and dangerously at BORR," he said in a statement on Monday (Oct 26).

ACP Noorzainy said the suspects were racing with each other from the Bagan Ajam toll plaza towards Northern Butterworth Cargo Terminal and at the same time, performing dangerous stunts to other road users.

ACP Noorzainy said the suspects were arrested when they stopped at the roadside of BORR towards Sungai Dua.

"All of them were brought to the North Seberang Prai police headquarters for further action," he said.

He advised road users especially teenage motorcyclists not to make BORR as their racing track as this can harm other road users.

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
