Health Ministry: Nine new Covid-19 clusters identified


PETALING JAYA: A total of nine new Covid-19 clusters were reported on Saturday (Oct 25), says the Health Ministry.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said four of the clusters were from Sabah.

The Titir cluster has 12 new cases involving the Keningau district in Sabah, and was identified when the patient underwent screening on Oct 18. So far, 23 individuals have tested positive.

Another cluster is the Omadal cluster, which has has nine new cases involving the Semporna district in Sabah, and was identified when the index case tested positive on Oct 18. So far, 21 individuals have tested positive.

The Bandaran cluster has five new cases involving the Kota Kinabalu district in Sabah, and was identified when the index case tested positive on Oct 15. So far, 12 individuals have tested positive.

Additionally, the Jambul cluster has one new case involving the Sandakan district in Sabah, and was identified when the index case tested positive on Oct 9. So far, eight individuals have tested positive.

The Bayan cluster has two new cases involving Seberang Perai in Penang, and was identified when the index case tested positive on Oct 21. So far, six individuals have tested positive.

The Mentari cluster involves Petaling, Klang and Gombak in Selangor; Seremban in Negri Sembilan; and Kepong in Kuala Lumpur.

It has five new cases and was identified when the index case tested positive on Oct 22. So far, 17 individuals were tested positive.

The Jernih cluster has 11 new cases involving Seremban in Negri Sembilan, and was identified when the index case tested positive on Oct 22 before returning to the country of origin. So far, 15 individuals were tested positive.

The Seladah cluster has four new cases involving Kuching and Serian in Sarawak, and was identified when the index case tested positive on Oct 22. So far, seven individuals were tested positive.

The Makekar cluster involves Johor Baru and Kulai in Johor; Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Kemaman and Dungun in Terengganu; and Klang in Selangor.

It has eight new cases and was identified when the index case tested positive in a workplace screening on Oct 18. So far, 10 individuals were tested positive.
