Cops advise public not to gather outside Istana Negara Sunday (Oct 25)

KUALA LUMPUR: The police have advised the public against gathering outside Istana Negara on Sunday (Oct 25) in conjunction with a special meeting of the Conference of Rulers here.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Zairulnizam Mohd Zainuddin @ Hilmi said members of the public who did not have any business there would be advised to leave.

"In a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19, all media personnel there are also advised to comply with the conditional movement control order (MCO) standard operating procedures.

"We will also introduce the MySejahtera registration system for all media practitioners, agencies and teams on duty outside Gates 1,2 and 3 of Istana Negara," he said in a statement Saturday (Oct 24).

He said everyone concerned must wear face masks, check their temperatures and register at the counters set up.

"Media personnel will be allowed to enter a designated area set up with special physical distancing boxes.

"They will also not be allowed to move or stand on the road to avoid any traffic disturbances," he said.

ACP Zairulnizam said any failure to comply with the standard operating procedures will result in an immediate issuance of a compound under Rule 11 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations.

"Any provocation will be dealt with in accordance with the available laws.

"Brickfields police reminds all parties to continue to comply with the standard operating procedures to ensure that the meeting goes on smoothly and curb the spread of the coronavirus," he said.
