Seven teen Mat Rempits arrested over dangerous stunts on NSE

KUALA LUMPUR: Seven teenagers were detained for riding their motorcycles dangerously along the North-South Expressway.

Bukit Aman's Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department deputy director Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Nadzri Hussain said the teenagers were racing illegally at 12.05am on Saturday (Oct 24).

"They were doing various stunts including the 'superman' and riding zig-zag.

"They were doing so from KM256.7 until KM263.9 of the expressway, and made a U-turn at Labu toll plaza southbound," he said when contacted on Saturday.

The riders continued with their dangerous stunts until KM256.6 (after turning back southbound), he added.

"We detained them when they stopped at the Senawang rest area.

"The teenagers, aged 17 and 18, were brought to Seremban police headquarters for further investigation," he said.

SAC Nadzri said their motorcycles were also seized.

"Their actions endangered not only themselves but other road users as well. We are investigating under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he added.
