Zahid was right to call for political ceasefire, says Bung

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was right to call for a political ceasefire as the nation battles the Covid-19 pandemic and economic downturn, says Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin (pic).

The Sabah Umno chief, who is also Deputy Chief Minister I said the state and federal governments must work together to help the needy, safe lives and to revive the economy.

“The power that leaders and the government have today must be used to the max to really help people who are badly affected by what is happening, ” he said in a statement here on Thursday (Oct 22).

Bung said the political ceasefire announced by Zahid, who is Umno president, is a move that must be supported due to the worsening Covid-19 situation in Sabah.

“There is nothing more important than making sure we recover from this pandemic and the economic effects that comes with it, ” he stressed.

He said this can only be done if both the state and federal governments and leaders come together to work as one for a common goal of putting the people’s needs first.

“There is no use if we have the power given by the people but the people are left in a lurch, without any systematic measure to help and protect them, ” Bung added.
