KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should practice some self-reflection, says Zuraida Kamaruddin.
The Housing and Local Government Minister was responding to Anwar's statement earlier Friday (Oct 23), who claimed that the Perikatan Nasional government was "resorting to undemocratic means to stay in power".
"I would strongly urge Anwar to practice some self-reflection.
"He appears to have completely forgotten that it was his recent actions that caused the political instability and distraction in the battle against Covid-19.
"It was Anwar who held a press conference outrageously claiming that the government of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had collapsed and that he had a formidable and convincing majority," she said in a statement on Friday adding that Anwar had yet to produce any names of the MPs purportedly supporting him.
Zuraida said Anwar, who claimed that the government lacked transparency, had himself failed to be transparent.
"At a time of a major national health crisis, Anwar should have risen above ... and supported the government of the day. "What he actually did raises serious questions as to his fitness for the high office," she said.
