KOTA KINABALU: A Covid-19 patient who had recovered and supposed to return home on Thursday (Oct 22), died after falling from a hospital in the city on Wednesday (Oct 21) night.
Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Habibi Majinjin said the 63-year-old was hospitalised on Oct 13 when she was tested positive for the virus.
“She had recovered and was supposed to go home on Thursday, ” he said when contacted.
However, the woman is believed to have jumped from the hospital building the night before she was supposed to be discharged.
ACP Habibi said they would be speaking to the nurses and doctors who had attended to the patient to find out the cause of the incident.
He said families of the victim had been called to identify the victim and to help in their investigations.
The body is still at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and would only be released back to the family after all procedures are completed.
ACP Habibi said prior to the discovery, a Rela personnel, who was on duty at that time, had heard a loud thud from where he was standing.
He said the staff had gone to check the source of the sound and found the victim on the ground.
Meanwhile, a woman who was involved in a flyover accident near the airport here is still fighting for her life.
It is learnt that she is being treated and monitored at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital emergency unit.
The woman, Helen Majain, 35, had fallen off the flyover, together with the vehicle she was travelling in around 10pm, Tuesday (Oct 20).
A male driver, Jafri@Jeffrey Pelasin, 51, was killed on the spot in the accident.
