ALOR STAR: Kedah Mentri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor says he will file a defamation suit against four Opposition leaders who alleged that the purchase of a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) by Syarikat Air Darul Aman (Sada) was actually for his own use.

Sanusi said those to be named as defendants in the lawsuit include Pokok Sena MP Datuk Mahfuz Omar, Pengkalan Kundor assemblyman Dr Ismail Salleh, and two other individuals.

He said the purchase of the vehicle was actually done by the Sada Asset Acquisition Committee internally and according to the budget limit.

“The involved party should have gotten clarification from me first, but I have seen several posts and live videos on social media made by Opposition leaders.

“My lawyers will file the defamation suit in court next week.

“I was made to understand that the vehicle in question would be part of the organisation's vehicle pool, and available for the shared use of Sada board members and senior officials, ” he said after chairing the state executive council meeting at Wisma Darul Aman on Wednesday (Oct 21).

On Tuesday (Oct 20), the Kedah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office had reportedly visited the Sada headquarters to examine the purchase documents related to the luxury vehicle.

It is said that the vehicle is of the highest specifications and was bought for RM345,000.

Sanusi, who is also Sada chairman, said the newly purchased vehicle is now at the Sada headquarters and the utility company has also purchased various assets such as tanker trucks and water pumps for operational use.

“I was accused of taking the new vehicle at the toll at 2.30am but I have never seen nor ridden in it until now.

"I only use two official vehicles, a Volvo S90 and Mercedes S320 that were bought by former mentri besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, ” he added.
