PKR respects Umno's political ceasefire, says sec-gen

PETALING JAYA: PKR will continue its efforts to restore the people's mandate and will respect the political ceasefire made by Umno, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

“PKR takes note and will respect the statement made by the Umno president. At the same time, we will continue our efforts to return the people's mandate together with parliamentarians who have the same aspirations and hopes, ” said the party secretary-general in a statement Wednesday (Oct 21).

He added that PKR hopes to correct the direction of the country's leadership, especially its efforts to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, rebuild the economy and solve the problems of the people.

Earlier, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had said that Umno will undertake a political ceasefire to ensure efforts to fight the Covid-19 pandemic bear fruit.

He noted that the party will also support the Perikatan Nasional government’s initiatives to help the people and the country to face the pandemic, as well as economic uncertainties.
