LOCAL film producer Edmund Yeo, who had won the Best Director in Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2017, had been invited to premiere his latest production Malu in Japan next month, reported Berita Harian.
The daily reported that Yeo’s film would be shown in the prime slot at TIFF.
This would be followed by screening at 10 cinemas in Tokyo, Fukuoka and Osaka.
“This is quite an experience. TIFF has been very supportive, beginning with the film Aqerah and the documentary on the great film director Yasmin Ahmad. Both were shown at TIFF.
“They also put up a Japanese website for Malu and it is a collaboration between the two countries, ” said Yeo.

Quoting his wife Datin Arianie Mohd Abidin, the article said that Hattan, 56, was found to have blocked valves.
“Recently, I saw him massaging his chest and a few days later he said he had pain in his chest. His family has a history of heart disease. I started to worry.
“Doctors treated him for three days until his condition stabilised, ” Arianie said, adding that doctors had discharged Hattan.
