Annuar Musa: Muafakat Nasional to commemorate anniversary through online programmes

PUTRAJAYA: Muafakat Nasional will commemorate its first year anniversary on Nov 1 through programmes that will be held online, says Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

Its secretary-general I Tan Sri Annuar Musa said there will be no mass gatherings or physical celebration held in conjunction with the celebration, taking into mind the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The one year anniversary of Muafakat Nasional will be celebrated on Nov 1 at 8pm. The secretariat has been directed to plan programmes according to the new normal and for all standard operating procedures (SOPs) to be strictly adhered to.

“All celebrations and programmes will be done virtually, there will be no mass gatherings, ” he said on Twitter Tuesday (Oct 20).

Earlier Tuesday, Umno and PAS announced that the parties have agreed to officially register Muafakat Nasional with the Registrar of Societies.

In a joint statement, the Muafakat leadership agreed to give its full commitment to strengthen unity and cooperation between the parties as part of its preparations to face the 15th general election.

The statement was jointly signed by Annuar, as well as secretary-general II Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan of PAS.

Muafakat’s steering committee meeting on Monday (Oct 19) had to be postponed, in line with the conditional movement control order (MCO), which is implemented in Kuala Lumpur to fight Covid-19 infection.

Last year, Umno and PAS inked a political cooperation with the signing of a joint charter.
