They went low, then got high: Johor party-goers nabbed for breaching MCO, drug use

JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested 31 individuals including 13 women for violating the recovery movement control order (MCO) by attending two private parties in Medini near Iskandar Puteri here.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said all of the suspects, between the ages of 18 and 30, also tested positive for various drugs such as methamphetamine, ketamine, and THC.

“In the first raid, police raided a house at around 7.30pm on Saturday (Oct 17), where we detained 21 individuals including 10 women between the ages of 18 and 30 at the scene.

“About an hour later, police raided a second house within the same residential area and detained 10 more suspects including three women, ” he said here on Monday (Oct 19).

ACP Dzulkhairi added that police also seized two strobe lights and two speakers from the two houses.

He said the suspects were being detained for violating the MCO, which has been set by the National Security Council (NSC), and were being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
