Cosmetics trader injured in snatch theft on Sunday (Oct 18) in Cheras

KAJANG: A cosmetics trader suffered multiple injuries after she was dragged on the road by snatch thieves who were after her handbag.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said they were alerted to the incident after the 29-year-old Thai woman lodged a report around 7.30pm on Sunday (Oct 18).

"She said she was near a restaurant at Dataran Cheras 2 at Cheras Traders, Kajang when a man on a motorcycle approached her and tried to snatch her bag. During the incident she was dragged a distance which caused her to suffer injuries," he said in a statement on Monday (Oct 19).

He said the woman could not identify the motorcycle used by the suspects.

"She lost cash, personal documents and two mobile phones in the incident.

"We have classified the case under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery," he said urging the public to take extra precautions when walking and carrying handbags, especially women.

He also urged the public to avoid walking alone at isolated areas and said that anyone with information on the case should contact Insp Nurfaezatul Akma Rofiee at 017-5443931.
