MELAKA: A bomb scare triggered panic among Kg Solok villagers at Ayer Molek here on Saturday night (Oct 17) before it was discovered out that the purported bomb was actually a boundary marker stone.

Worried villagers alerted Melaka health and anti-drug committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman, the area's assemblyman, after the "discovery" was made at around 11pm.

Rahmad, accompanied by several community leaders, rushed to the site and alerted the bomb disposal unit from Melaka police headquarters over the supposed World War II bomb.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Afzanizar Ahmad said his officers from Tiang Dua police station received a distress call from residents on the discovery of the "bomb" at Kg Solok Jenuang.

"The object was discovered by those doing clearing work at the site," he said on Sunday (Oct 18).

ACP Afzanizar said the object was found to be made of cement and functioned as a border marker.

He added the bomb disposal unit later combed the area to look for any remnants of bombs at the site.
