Man found dead in Batu 3 river near Sandakan


KOTA KINABALU: A man was found dead in the Batu 3 river in Sandakan on Friday (Oct 16).

The 42-year-old has been identified as Irwan Nasri and was said to have gone to the river to fish and catch crabs after finishing work at about 12.30pm.

“At about 1pm, people saw a man floating on the river and alerted the authorities, ” said Sandakan OCPD ACP Mohd Azhar Hamin.

He said no foul play is suspected in the initial investigation of this case, adding that no injuries were found on the victim's body.

ACP Azhar said a post mortem will be conducted before the body is handed back to the family for burial.

“The case is being investigated as a Sudden Death Report as of now, ” he said.
