Man arrested in Johor Baru with RM105,000 worth of contraband beer

JOHOR BARU: A 33-year-old man was arrested by the General Operations Force (GOF) in Ulu Tiram here for possessing contraband beer worth RM105,000.

GOF Fifth Battalion commanding officer Supt Dimin Awang said the suspect was found while driving a multi-purpose vehicle with the 2,400 tins of illicit beer at Taman Dato Chellam, Ulu Tiram at around 5.15pm on Friday (Oct 16).

“Investigation found that the suspect was involved in the sale of illicit beer in the Johor Baru area,” he said.

Supt Dimin added that the man and seized items were brought to the Johor Baru South police department for further investigations under Section 135(1) of the Customs Act 1967.

He also urged the public to continue channelling information to the authorities to put a stop to activities involving contraband goods.
