PETALING JAYA: Malaysia is dedicating a song titled "Statistics Bloom in Harmony" to the world in conjunction with World Statistics Day 2020.
"The global statistical community is welcome to play the song at any national or international events," said Department of Statistics Malaysia's chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin (pic).
He said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 17) that the song was composed by Malaysia for the 62nd ISI World Statistics Congress 2019.
Mohd Uzir added that the lyrics emphasise the significance of statistics and data for decision-making towards achieving the 2030 Agenda aspirations.
He said that he hoped the video provided by the Department would serve as a great instrument to improve statistical literacy.
Mohd Uzir said that he also hoped it would further strengthen the statistical network, uniting and promoting the importance of sustainable national statistical capabilities in producing reliable and timely statistics, especially to meet the 2030 Agenda.
"Let's join hands together as a statistical community to promote statistical literacy for evidence-based decision, paving the way for a better life tomorrow. Happy World Statistics Day 2020!" he said.
