Covid-19: Jaya Grocer says employee at Mutiara Tropicana tested positive, outlet closed Sunday (Oct 18) for deep cleaning

PETALING JAYA: Jaya Grocer confirms that a staff member working at its Mutiara Tropicana outlet has tested positive for Covid-19.

The supermarket chain said, in a statement posted on its Facebook page Saturday (Oct 17), that the employee had tested positive on Saturday.

“This employee has been in self-quarantine from as early as Oct 6 as the employee is residing at the Tropicana Golf Club Hostel. No other staff members are residing in that area, ” it said, adding that the staff had not been at the outlet since Oct 6 and had avoided contact with colleagues.

Jaya Grocer also said that it would be closing down the affected outlet on Sunday (Oct 18) to conduct mass testing.

“It will be closed until all test results have been released.

“Meanwhile, deep cleaning and sanitising will be carried out at the outlet, ” it said.
