KULAI: A ketum water drinking session in Felda Bukit Batu involving five men, including the village head, came to an abrupt end when police officers showed up.

The suspects, aged 25 between 52, were arrested at a hut and a house on Jalan Klinik in Air Bemban here at around 10.30pm on Thursday (Oct 15), said said Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow (pic).

“The village head, 52, was arrested at the hut along with three other villagers, while a Myanmar national was arrested at the house.

“We also found in their possession a 1.5 litre-bottle and nine plastic packets filled with ketum water, which they were all enjoying at the time of arrest, ” he said.

Supt Tok added that all five suspects had been remanded for three days until Oct 18 for investigation under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952.
