PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has been postponed.
The Umno president said Istana Negara informed him that the meeting had been postponed to a later date.
“Yes, my meeting has been postponed as well to a later date, ” he said when contacted on Wednesday (Oct 14).
Earlier in the day, Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan was quoted as saying that the party president was scheduled to have an audience with the King on Thursday at 5pm.
Istana Negara has also postponed a meeting with Lim Guan Eng and Mohamad Sabu to a later date.
In a joint statement, the DAP secretary-general and Parti Amanah Negara president said they were supposed to have an audience with the King today and on Oct 22 respectively.
On Tuesday, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim met with the King to inform him that he had a “formidable majority” support from MPs in his bid to be the next Prime Minister.
Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin later released a statement that Anwar gave the King the numbers he claimed to have but did not give the names of the MPs to allow for verification of his claim.
It said the King advised Anwar to follow and respect the legal process as stated in the Federal Constitution.
