Sibu man feared drowned after falling off boat

SIBU: A man is feared to have drowned after he tripped and fell off an express boat on Monday (Oct 12).

State Fire and Rescue Department said around 8am, the victim Neckson Entingai Isek, 39, was sitting at the back of an express boat which was berthed at the express boat terminal with his father-in-law, 51, when the incident occurred.

The boat was heading for Daro.

"He suddenly fell down into the river and was swept away by the current," said the department in a statement.

The elder man quickly called the police.

The Fire and Rescue Department later launched a search and rescue operation which is still ongoing.
