PETALING JAYA: PAS has suspended all activities to reduce the risk of Covid-19 transmission, as Malaysia continues to record a high number of cases on a daily basis.

Its president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had on Friday (Oct 2) ordered the immediate suspension of all party activities, programmes and meetings.

Hadi had instructed PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan to convey the message to the ground.

"I hereby order all party activities adjourned sine die," said Takiyuddin said in a statement on Friday.

He said programmes that had been planned and those being planned should be immediately postponed until further notice.

Takiyuddin said compliance to the order was much appreciated in the interest of public health and wellbeing.

The first two days of October saw the number of new Covid-19 cases increasing from 260 on Thursday to 287 the following day.

Malaysia recorded 89 new Covid-19 cases on Sept 30, and 101 cases the previous day.
