SIBU: A tattoo artist and a jobless man were nabbed in connection with a goldsmith burglary on Jalan Market last week that saw RM57,000 worth of jewellery carted away.
The arrests took place on Sept 29 when police raided a house at Laichee Lane and detained the jobless man, 48, at 6.05pm.
Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the man admitted to the burglary and led police to the 41-year-old tattoo artist at a house on Jalan Empelang.
"The artist was found in possession of the stolen jewellery, which he told police that a friend had asked him to dispose of," he said.
The police on Sept 25, had detained three people including a 33-year-old woman in connection with the burglary.
The two others were lorries drivers, aged 37 and 40.
They were picked up from a budget hotel in Jalan Wong Nai Siong.
The theft was believed to have occurred between 5pm on Sept 24 and 8.30am the next day.
Police believe that the thieves had entered the shop by drilling a hole in the ceiling.
The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for breaking-in and theft.
