Four marine cops hurt after patrol boat explodes

KOTA KINABALU: Four marine policemen sustained burns and other injuries when the patrol vessel they were in exploded Wednesday (Sept 30) morning.

Sabah Marine commander Asst Comm Ahmad Ariffin said the incident happened at about 7.35am.

The four marine policemen had just got on the vessel and were heading out from the marine jetty when the boat exploded a few minutes later.

“We are still investigating the cause of the explosion,” ACP Ahmad said when contacted.

Three of the officers sustained about 9% burns on their bodies while the other sustained about 12% burns.

They are being treated at the yellow and red zones of the Tawau Hospital.
