Police officer arrested by MACC for alleged bribery

IPOH: A sub-police station deputy officer has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for alleged bribery.

Perak MACC director Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohamad said the officer was arrested in an undisclosed location on Monday evening (Sept 28).

"He was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of about RM2,000," he said when contacted on Tuesday (Sept 29).

"The matter is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act," he added.

Deputy Perak police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Goh Boon Keng confirmed the arrest and said that the police officer involved holds the rank of sergeant major.
