IPOH: Police have arrested a man for allegedly outraging the modesty of a heavily-pregnant woman in Taman Pusing Utusan, near Batu Gajah.

Batu Gajah OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said the 34-year-old man, who is from Sarawak, was arrested near a housing project site at Taman Sri Puteri in Batu Gajah on Monday (Sept 28) at about 4.40pm.

ACP Ahmad Adnan said the man is believed to have committed the offence against the 27-year-old woman, a clerk, at her rented house at about 8am the same day.

"During the incident, the victim had just opened the door of her house when the suspect, who was wearing a face mask, rushed towards her.

"He covered her mouth and held her wrist and told her to keep quiet," ACP Ahmad Adnan said.

"He then pushed her inside the house and sent the victim sprawling," he said, adding that the man got on top of her and started molesting her.

He said the victim pleaded for the man to stop as she was pregnant.

"Before fleeing, the suspect asked where her husband was and it there was anyone else in the house," he added.

He said the victim, who is eight months' pregnant, was sent to the district hospital for checks after lodging a police report.

"The baby is unharmed and she only suffered a bruised wrist," he said.

ACP Ahmad Adnan said the case would be investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code.

"The man, who lives in the same housing area as the victim, will be remanded until Thursday (Oct 1).

"We believe he has been following her for some time," he said, adding that the suspect did not have a criminal record.
