GELANG PATAH: A 36-year-old man in a car full of contraband alcoholic drinks worth RM38,953 was arrested by the General Operations Force (GOF).

GOF 5th Battalion commanding officer Supt Dimin Awang said the man was spotted along Jalan Forest City Golf Course in Tanjung Kupang here at 3.30pm, Sunday (Sept 27).

“Upon inspection, we found the car loaded with 1,609 bottles and cans of beer and alcoholic drinks of various brands.

“We believe the contraband goods were meant for the local market at the Johor Baru duty-free zone,” he said.

The contraband goods were seized and the man was brought to Iskandar Puteri police headquarters for investigation under Section 135 (1) of the Customs Act 1967 for contraband smuggling, he added.
