KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah’s (GRS) chief minister candidate Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor has been invited by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin to attend the swearing-in ceremony tomorrow (Sept 29).
The invitation was extended on Monday (Sept 28), according to the state information department.
Hajiji was spotted entering Istana Negeri at 3.55pm on Monday.
Met by reporters outside Istana Negeri, Hajiji said he was asked to meet the Governor.
“TYT called me, ” the Sabah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman said briefly before entering Istana Negeri.
Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) secretary-general Datuk Jahid Jahim went to the Istana Negeri around 11.30am on Monday to hand over 41 statutory declarations from assemblymen in support of the next chief minister candidate.
Two independent assemblymen who won in the state elections on Saturday (Sept 26) are believed to have pledged allegiance to GRS, which bumped up its 38 assemblymen to 41.
The political intrigue continues, as both sides of the political divide race to form the next state government.
