KOTA KINABALU: It was a rollercoaster of moods at Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal's residence at Yayasan Sabah house as official Election Commission (EC) results flipped rapidly in favour of Warisan Plus and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
The night started out sombre as unofficial results showed that GRS had won the state election.
Shafie (pic), who is Parti Warisan Sabah president, was supposed to address the media at 9pm on Saturday but had not emerged by the time GRS started celebrating its victory.
At 9.45pm, several leaders were seen entering the premises including Sabah PKR chief Datuk Christina Liew who stood at Api-Api and DAP Kapayan candidate Jannie Lasimbang.
Both women had officially won their seats.
At around 10.30pm, there was a glimmer of hope as Warisan disputed GRS' unofficial results as official results started to trickle in.
They saw a light at the end of the tunnel when the Sekong seat was given to Warisan instead of GRS as previously announced.
Spirits continued to climb as official numbers showed Warisan was quickly gaining traction.
However by midnight, the mood pummeled again when the EC officially announced that GRS had won 38 and Warisan 32.
Three seats, Kuamut, Pitas and Kemabong went to independent candidates.
