KOTA KINABALU: The official final results for the 16th Sabah state elections see the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) pact taking it with a simple majority of 38 seats, versus Warisan Plus’ 32 seats, with Independent candidates winning the remaining three.
GRS comprises Perikatan Nasional, Barisan Nasional and Parti Bersatu Sabah.
Election Commission (EC) chairman Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh said Perikatan got 17 seats, Barisan won 14 and PBS won seven.
He added that Parti Warisan Sabah meanwhile won 29 seats, with its Warisan Plus allies PKR winning two seats and Upko bagging one.
“For the 16th Sabah polls, we saw 749,083 voters or a 66.61% voter turnout, including postal and early voters.
“Considering the fact that Covid-19 cases have been on the rise in Sabah’s east coast, these numbers are considered good compared with the targeted 70% turnout, ” he told reporters at a press conference after the results were finalised.
