KOTA KINABALU: Caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal (pic) called on Sabahans to exercise their right as voters responsibly at the 16th state election on Saturday (Sept 26).
He said the election should be taken seriously to ensure a government with integrity is voted in and can carry out its responsibility to the people.
"Please exercise this right to the best of your ability so that a stable government can be formed for the sake of the people," he said.
He said the election was called because Sabah faced a political crisis that caused the dissolution of the state assembly in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Shafie added that in a democratic system, the people had the power to choose their leaders, not those who want to be in power.
"We will leave it to the people but in our effort to garner votes, we need to be vigilant to not allow the virus to spread," he said.
