MELAKA (Bernama): Six people, including a mother of three, were arrested for drug-related offences after they were stopped at a roadblock mounted by the Melaka Road Transport Department (JPJ) at Jalan Syed Abdul Aziz, Kota Laksamana here, on Thursday night (Sept 24).
Melaka JPJ director Muhammad Firdaus Shariff said those detained were aged 23 to 43, with four of them testing positive for methamphetamine, one positive for cannabis and another one positive for heroin.
"One of the men detained was a businessman and driving without a valid licence as well as suspected of possessing drugs. All of those detained will be handed over to police for further action,” he told reporters after the roadblock operation.
Earlier, the integrated operation from 8.30pm to midnight involved a total of 103 personnel and officers from various departments and agencies.
He said a total of 528 vehicles were inspected and tinted window-related offences recorded the highest number with 103 compounds issued, followed by driving without valid licence at 32.
Other offences committed including driving without valid road tax, registration number-related offences and using HID lights, he said.- Bernama
