KOTA KINABALU: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition will ensure that issues pertaining to education will be improved if it manages to form the government following Saturday's (Sept 26) polls, says former education minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.
“As a former education minister, I know that there are many issues in Sabah that needed to be improved.
“Issues pertaining to schools and many more are needed to be improved. God-willing, the government under GRS which would be formed after Sept 26 will ensure that education, whether in the interiors, villages, rural areas, will be improved, ” he said.
Speaking during a GRS mega-ceramah in Putatan on Thursday (Sept 24), Mahdzir also urged Sabahans to believe that the GRS government, if formed, will work in tandem with the Federal Government to ensure development in Sabah.
Mahdzir also said that issues pertaining to security will be ensured if the GRS government is formed.
“Whether illegal immigrants or whatever threats, the main priority of the government is about security, and that is why the people must support Tan Sri Muhyiddin as prime minister.”
Meanwhile, PAS vice president Idris Ahmad, in his speech earlier, said there isn’t a need for the Warisan Plus coalition to label state Opposition parties as a “peninsular party”.
“Do they realise that DAP is what party? Where are they from? Therefore, don’t play this issue. We are politicians in 2020, and Sabahans can access the internet and get information at the tip of their fingers.”
Idris also said PAS chose to abstain from contesting in the election, in order to ensure that the Warisan Plus government can be toppled.
“We are not contesting to ensure that the Perikatan government is continued to be led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. God-willing, ” he added.
447 candidates will slug it out in 73 state seats on Sept 26.
