Drug distribution ring busted, four arrested

KAJANG: A drug distribution ring has been busted by the police.

The bust on Wednesday (Sept 23) afternoon came after the police arrested a 24-year-old man in a parking lot in Menari Simfoni, Balakong after following up on a tip.

"Checks on the suspect led to the discovery of a compressed pack of suspected cannabis.

"Follow-up investigations there led to a raid at a house and three more suspects were arrested," said Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan when contacted Thursday (Sept 24).

He added that one of the four arrested suspects was still a public higher educational institution (IPTA) student.

Police found an additional 2.36kg of suspected cannabis, both in compressed and liquid form at the house.

Equipment to package the drugs were also found.

The estimated value of the seized drugs has been placed at RM6,541.

An additional RM1,200 in cash was also seized during the raid.

"Two of the suspects had been arrested previously for criminal and drug related cases. Urine tests on all four suspects came back positive for THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and all have been remanded for six days until Sept 29.

"Preliminary investigations showed that the syndicate had been active in cannabis distribution within the Klang Valley area since two months ago. It is believed that the drugs seized could have been used by 872 drug users," he said.
