Indonesian arrested after car rams policeman on motorcycle

SHAH ALAM: An Indonesian man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run accident involving a police inspector along Persiaran Mokhtar Dahari.

In the Friday (Sept 18) incident that has gone viral, a Proton Wira was recorded driving slowly along the road shoulder after being hailed by traffic police personnel conducting a roadblock there.

However, the driver does not stop despite being ordered to by policemen and rams into a motorcycle before speeding off.

The motorcyclist, Insp Ismail Aun, 55, suffered injuries to his feet and legs.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Baharudin Mat Taib said the inspector was wearing plainclothes and monitoring traffic operations during the incident at around 8.10am.

"The Proton Wira with two men believed to be foreigners inside rammed into the policeman before speeding off.

"The incident was witnessed by several other policemen at the scene," he said.

ACP Baharudin added that a special task force comprising Shah Alam CID and Traffic Investigation and Enforcement personnel began tracing the culprits involved.

"The task force raided an apartment at Desa Mentari at around 7pm on Saturday and arrested an Indonesian man.

"We have also seized a Proton Wira believed to be connected to the hit-and-run case," he said.
