Two fishermen feared drowned in Tanjung Emas

MUAR: Two fishermen are feared drowned in Tanjung Emas here.

Muar Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohd Jefri Jamal said the incident was reported around 4pm on Saturday (Sept 19).

“The two missing fishermen, believed to be father and son aged 25 and 61, went to sea with two other fishermen friends on two separate boats.

“We believe that one of the missing fishermen had fallen into the water, and the other man jumped in to try and rescue him.

“After that, they went missing,” he said in a statement.

He added that the duo also experienced difficulties with their boat before the incident happened.

A search and rescue operation together with marine police and other authorities is still ongoing to look for the victims, he added.

He said the other two fishermen, aged 37 and 40, were unharmed.
