PETALING JAYA: The Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) has sealed off the offices of Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Gombak Setia assemblyman Muhammad Hilman Idham in Taman Berjaya, Gombak on Friday (Sept 18).
According to Sinar Harian, the move was believed to be linked to the decision by the two former PKR leaders who recently joined Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
When contacted by the Malay daily, Hilman confirmed the incident but said he was not present as he was campaigning in Sabah.
He also slammed the state government for sealing off the service centres as it will not benefit the rakyat.
"The action by the Selangor Mentri Besar and the state government to allegedly seal off our service centres and evict us from there will only be detrimental to the people in Gombak Setia," he said.
"The office is a place where I meet with the people, local leaders and those who are in need of help," he told the Malay daily via WhatsApp.
"Although I am no longer a Pakatan Harapan representative, Azmin and I will still continue to provide our services and help the people of Gombak.
"If the Mentri Besar and state government want to punish me because I no longer support Pakatan, they should face me instead of punishing the people and voters of Gombak Setia," he said.
Meanwhile, in a separate Facebook post, Hilman said that he received many messages from Selangor civil servants who sympathised with him over MPS' action.
"I asked them to defend the civil servant's charter and do not feel any political pressure from the state government.
"God-willing, there will be a time when we will be back together to chart the success in Selangor," he said.
MPS, in a statement on Friday, said that the eviction notice had been issued since July.
“MPS had earlier visited the service centres and informed them about the order to evict. MPS also gave reminders on the eviction notice on Sept 7 and Sept 9.
“MPS hopes with the explanation, there will be no confusion on the action taken, ” said an MPS spokesman.
He added that the council has given three days from today (Sept 18) for the service centre to vacate its premises.
The service centre is located at an MPS asset, which is a community hall in Jalan Berjaya 6.
