PUTRAJAYA: Police arrested 101 individuals for movement control order (MCO) violations, including not adhering to the enhanced MCO that had been put in place in certain areas with a high number of Covid-19 cases.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic) said 24 individuals were arrested for this offence, but did not name the locations.
Police also nabbed 26 people for not wearing face masks in crowded public places, no social distancing (19), illegal immigrants (10) as well as six for pub and night club activities.
"Of the figure, 86 people were compounded and 15 were remanded. The public are advised to ensure that standard operating procedures (SOPs) are complied with," he said Friday (Sept 18).
The taskforce monitoring SOP compliance checked 56,758 premises including supermarkets, transport terminals, government offices, banks, restaurants and hawker centres.
On Ops Benteng, Ismail Sabri said that 88 illegal immigrants were nabbed Thursday (Sept 17).
Also arrested were four tekongs, a human trafficker and eight vehicles.
"We will continue with enforcement to ensure that illegal immigrants cannot sneak into the country," he said.
On quarantine at government designated stations, a total 30,314 individuals had returned to the country since July 24.
Ismail Sabri said there are currently 9,350 individuals in quarantine centres.
