Cops tracking down suspect who threatened grandfather with knife

BUTTERWORTH: Police are tracing a suspect who threatened to hurt and kill his 76-year-old grandfather with a knife.

The incident allegedly occurred around 7.30am at the suspect’s home in Pokok Sena in Kepala Batas on Wednesday (Sept 16).

North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the elderly man had earlier reprimanded his grandson for renting his room to another man to be used as a spot for taking drugs.

“The suspect became angry after he was reprimanded and drew out a knife to threaten his grandfather.

“The fight was later resolved when the victim’s son stepped in, ” ACP Noorzainyhe said, adding that similar incidents have happened twice.

ACP Noorzainy said the suspect ran away upon seeing police officers arriving at the scene.

“We are unable to arrest the suspect until now, and are looking for him.

“We urge the community to cooperate with us, if anyone has information on the suspect, we hope they can furnish us with details so that we can track him down.

“The case will be investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, ” he added.
