KOTA BARU (Bernama): PAS members should learn from the fall of the Pakatan Harapan government by strengthening the party's cooperation with Perikatan Nasional, says Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang (pic).
The PAS president said in his policy speech at the 66th PAS Muktamar (general assembly) here on Sunday (Sept 13) that strong cooperation in preparing for the 15th General Election (GE15) is needed to form a stable government.
"The Perikatan government is carrying out a new vision through an interim government and is preparing to build a stronger government to be made by the people through democracy in GE15," he said
Abdul Hadi said the unification of the Muslim community through the establishment of the Muafakat Nasional between PAS and Umno involved the merger of the two largest Malay/Muslim-based parties and added that it paid off with Perikatan taking over Putrajaya.
Abdul Hadi said that to ensure victory, the party needs to provide credible candidates to drive the future of the country, which will face bigger political, economic and cultural challenges.
He added that the party needs to prepare candidates who have the expertise and are from different backgrounds
Abdul Hadi also said that PAS incurred no setbacks in its cooperation with other political parties as they were made in accordance with Islamic teachings. - Bernama
