Upko to field new, old candidates to ensure victory for Warisan Plus, says party VP

KOTA KINABALU: The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) party will field new and old candidates to help ensure victory for Warisan Plus in the 16th Sabah polls on Sept 26, says its vice-president Datuk Ewon Benedick.

He said all Upko candidates who have been fielded have various academic

backgrounds and have their own strength to garner votes.

"I am also confident that the young candidates of Upko have new ideas to develop in their respective areas and Sabah as a whole," he said after the

launching ceremony of the Warisan Plus' vision and announcement of Warisan Plus candidates at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here Thursday (Sept 10).

Ewon, who will be defending the Kadamaian state constituency, hopes that the people of Sabah can make wise choices and give solid support to the Warisan Plus candidates to ensure the continuity of development in the state.

Upko is also featuring a woman candidate, Georgina L, who is a deputy

secretary-general for the Paginatan seat.

Upko president Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau will be making his first foray for a state seat by contesting the Kiulu seat, Datuk Dr Lucas Umbul (Kemabong), Upko secretary-general Nelson W. Angang (Kuala Penyu), and treasurer Datuk Dr Laurentius Nayan Ambu, who is also the former director of the Sabah Wildlife Department (Tambunan).

Also contesting are Upko Youth chief Felix Joseph Saang for the Telupid seat, Junsim Rumunzing (Bengkoka), Padis Majingkin (Tandek), Albert Aguir (Nabawan), Dennis Tweening Rantau (Labuk) and Benson Inggam (Kuamut).
