BUKIT MERTAJAM, Sept 9 (Bernama) --The Malaysian Muslim Restaurant Owners Association (Presma) has lodged a police report against the individual responsible for a viral statement that allegedly adversely affected their businesses.

Presma committee member Abdul Aziz Shik Ahmad (pic) said a police report about a statement which went viral on WhatsApp was lodged on August 27.

He said that the individual shared a post that warned people to stay away from mamak shops and nasi kandar restaurants across Malaysia

"The statement has tarnished the image of the mamak and nasi kandar restaurant industry, ” said Abdul Aziz.

He added at a press conference on Wednesday (Sept 9) that the statement is false and said that the statement should not be directed specifically at mamak and nasi kandar restaurants simply because a number of Covid-19 cases involved workers from these restaurants.- Bernama
