KUALA LUMPUR: Media practitioners play an integral role in combating crimes, especially in disseminating information that can assist the police, said Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim (pic).
“I fully appreciate the media’s assistance in various aspects, including highlighting the successes of the police force.
“The cooperation between the media and the police is very important. I feel both entities compliment each other towards successfully combating crime,” he said in his speech during a media appreciation event at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters yesterday.
Comm Mazlan, who will take over the post of Bukit Aman Logistics and Technology department director, said media practitioners are frontliners too in reporting events and vital information especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We are grateful that the media are risking their lives day in and day out in reporting occurrences even at the start of the movement control order (MCO) in March.
“I hope the media will continue to give the same cooperation to my successor,” he added.
Comm Mazlan also presented several media practitioners with certificates of appreciation during the event.
Comm Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin will take over from Comm Mazlan as KL police chief.
