91 party-goers slapped with compounds after raids

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 91 people were issued with compounds following raids at two entertainment outlets in Kuchai Lama and Bandar Baru Sri Petaling.

Those issued with compounds were customers and pub workers.

Police also detained 16 Vietnamese women who worked as hostesses at the outlets and a male Myanmar national.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the first outlet in Bandar Baru Sri Petaling at about 12.30am on Sunday.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Zailrulnizam Mohd Zainuddin@Hilmi said compounds were issued to 18 customers at the outlet for violating the recovery movement control order (MCO).

“We raided the second outlet in Kuchai Business Park at about 2am and detained 16 Vietnamese women and a Myanmar man.

“We also issued compounds to 73 customers and three local pub workers,” he said yesterday.

The foreigners, aged between 20 and 40, were being remanded until Sept 19, he added.

“All pub or bar owners must not employ undocumented foreigners or those with no valid permit.

“Stern action will also be taken against those operating without a valid business licence,” he said.

ACP Zailrulnizam reminded the public to comply with the standard operating procedure during the recovery MCO.

He also urged anyone with information on any crime to contact Brickfields police at 03-2297 9222 or the nearest police station.
