Error in e-paper's Letters page (updated)

In the Views section of the e-paper edition of The Star on Wednesday, 2 September 2020, two letters were inadvertently spliced together.

The letters were "Respect begets respect" by Shad Saleem Faruqi and "Justice not served in sexual harassment case" by Shocked and Dismayed.

The computer programme which automatically picks up stories for converting into the e-version of The Star wrongly detected the divider between the two stories, thus merging them together.

This computer programme is operated by our vendor which is based overseas and the problem was fixed at 1.53am on Thursday (Sept 3).

Due to the seriousness of the issues discussed in the letters, the error is deeply regretted.
